What We Do

A A

Fintech Engineering

Financial platforms, payment systems, and trading infrastructure — with regulatory compliance baked in.

B B

Data Platform Architecture

Pipelines, warehouses, and analytics infrastructure that grow with your business.

C C

ERP Integration & Automation

Dynamics 365 Business Central development, customisation, and integration with modern stacks.

D D

Technical Advisory

Architecture reviews, tech strategy, and hands-on leadership for teams that need senior guidance.

03 / Engagements

How to Work With Us

I

Architecture Review

1–2 weeks · fixed price

We read the system, interview the people who run it, and hand back a written assessment with a prioritised plan. You keep the document whether or not we build anything together.

Best when you suspect something is wrong but cannot name it yet.

II

Build Sprint

4–12 weeks · fixed scope

A defined system, built and shipped. Weekly demos, a reviewable diff every day, and documentation written as we go rather than at the end.

Best when the problem is understood and the constraint is engineering capacity.

III

Advisory Retainer

Monthly · ongoing

Architecture and code review for your team, plus availability for the decisions that are expensive to get wrong. No ticket queue, no minimum hours.

Best when you have engineers and need a senior second opinion.

Projects start at €0,000.

Every engagement is quoted fixed-price against a written scope. We would rather you rule us out on this page than on a call — so if the number is wrong for you, it is wrong now.

04 / Stack

The Toolkit

Languages

TypeScript · Python · Rust

Typed end to end. Rust where the latency budget is measured in microseconds.

Runtime

Cloudflare Workers

Edge-first deployment — Workers, D1, R2, Durable Objects. Cold starts measured in single-digit milliseconds.

Data

PostgreSQL · DuckDB · Parquet

Transactional and analytical stores chosen per workload, not per fashion cycle.

ERP

Dynamics 365 · AL

Business Central extensions and integrations that survive a platform upgrade.

Quant

Backtesting & Risk

Vectorised research pipelines, walk-forward validation, and volatility-targeted sizing.

Delivery

CI, Review, Evidence

Every change ships with tests, a reviewable diff, and runtime evidence it works.

05 / Principles

How We Work

01

Prioritize

Cut through noise. Focus on what moves the needle for your product.

02

Sweat the Details

Thorough preparation and careful execution — nothing slips through the cracks.

03

Be a Workhorse

Reliable, consistent delivery. We show up and ship results you can count on.

04

Always Keep Going

Resilience through hard problems. We don't stop until it's solved.

06 / Process

The Process

01

Discovery

We discuss your project, goals, and constraints. No commitment, no pitch.

02

Proposal

Clear timeline, deliverables, and fixed pricing. No surprises.

03

Build & Ship

Hands-on engineering with regular check-ins. You see progress every week.

04

Handover

Clean documentation, knowledge transfer, and optional ongoing support.

Consensus

Systems agree, or they fail.

Distributed state, financial ledgers, ERP integrations — every one of them is a consensus problem wearing a different hat.

08 / About

About

Consensus Labs is an Amsterdam-based engineering studio. We build fintech platforms, data infrastructure, and ERP systems for companies that need software to hold up under real-world load. We help teams build software that holds up when it matters.

The studio is founded and led by Ronan Talboom — an engineer with over a decade across enterprise networking, fintech, and data platforms, who has led engineering at IPknowledge, built network tooling at Aruba (HPE), and shipped everything from SD-WAN platforms to AI-powered developer tools. We work remotely with teams across Europe, the UK, and North America. Clean code, reliable systems, delivered on time — no hand-waving.

Working with a small studio

One senior engineer, not a bench of juniors

The person you speak to is the person who writes the code. Nothing is handed down to someone cheaper after the contract is signed.

09 / FAQ

Questions

What does a typical engagement look like?+
Most projects start with a discovery call. From there, a clear proposal with scope, timeline, and pricing. Engagements range from short sprints to multi-month builds.
How do you handle pricing?+
Fixed-price proposals for defined scope, or time-and-materials for ongoing work. You always know the cost before we start — no hourly billing surprises.
Startups or established companies?+
Both. We've led engineering at enterprises like HPE and built startup products from scratch. The principles are the same — ship reliable software, on time.
Can you work with my existing team?+
Absolutely. We embed with your engineers, follow your processes, and communicate in your tools. We're here to accelerate your team, not replace it.
What is your tech stack?+
TypeScript, Node.js, Python, Rust, Swift, Java, C/C++, C#, PostgreSQL, and cloud platforms (Cloudflare, Azure). For ERP work, AL and Dynamics 365 Business Central. The right tool for the job, not the trendy one.
Where are you based, what timezones?+
Amsterdam (CET), with teams across Europe, the UK, and North America. Async-first communication works well for distributed teams.
